I-40,
Americas main and busiest west-east highway, begins as an exit of
I-15 at Barstow, California. I-15 is the only Interstate feeder
for this end of I-40. Unfortunately, I-15 has become a
'bumper-to- bumper high speed raceway for people rushing to Las Vegas.
Even the addition of 'third lanes' did not
resolve this problem. If you are coming from (or going to) San Diego and
other areas south or east of Los Angeles, you have no realistic
alternative to I-15. If you are coming from areas north of Los Angeles, you do have an excellent alternative to I-15. |
CA-58
(2 exits south of the I-40 interchange) connects with CA-14, US-99 and
I-5. CA-58 is mostly freeway, some 4-lane and about 10 miles 2 lane
(near US-395). Its connection with CA-14 (an excellent freeway designed
to Interstate standards) provides access to northern Los Angeles county
and Ventura counties. Continuing on CA-58 gives you access to US-99 and
I-5. |
